The Chuckanut Mountains: A Very Special Place
C2C_Geology.jpg

As this map illustrates, no where else in the entire Puget Sound region do the Cascade Mountain foothills extend all the way to the sea. The Chuckanut Mountains are part of what is known as the Puget Lowland Forest Ecoregion, which, according to the World Wildlife Fund is in "critical" need of new protected areas. If we are going to save something of this once sprawling forest, where else is there a better place to do that? Future generations deserve the opportunity to enjoy what remains of this rich natural heritage.

As this map shows, the least populated (and least developed) area along the entire eastern shore of the Puget Sound region is right here in our own Chuckanut Mountains.
