A few vocal opponents to the Chuckanut Mountains Park District appear to be spreading highly contentious and misleading claims in an attempt to frighten voters into opposing the park district. Bob Rauch and the so-called "North Sound Conservancy" are leading an effort to disparage the CMPD Advisory Committee's work, while floating exaggerated claims about eminent domain, bathhouses and amusement parks that will somehow descend upon the good people of the Chuckanuts if the park district is created. It may sound absurd (and surely it is), but we are happy to respond to any of the charges for those who may be taking their claims seriously. Please contact us if there is any question at all about the process of creating a park district or how it will function. We want the voters to know exactly what they are voting for and why we believe it is, far and away, the best thing we can do to protect the quality of life we enjoy in the region.
